For descendants of European immigrants and refugees, it can be challenging to come to terms with our nation’s historical treatment of indigenous people. Feelings of guilt and shame, confusion, or just general awkwardness can get in the way of building bridges between ourselves and the people whose ancestors our ancestors attempted to destroy. How do we appropriately build relationships and offer support and ally-ship?
